Why Us

In mature, knowledge-based economies, innovation in the science and technology industries has contributed significantly to their economic growth. Takamul is aligned with Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030 to drive human capital in science and technology by helping inventors and innovators of every age, turn their dreams into reality. Since the establishment of innovation ecosystem is an important part of a knowledge-based economy, Takamul aims to provide a complete service across the innovation ecosystem that is continually expanded to offer new components and areas of expertise, thus creating further value for inventors and innovators in the UAE.

Background

Launched in 2011, Takamul is a UAE innovation program to support inventors and promote innovation across the country. Takamul focuses on making UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world by promoting the innovation cycle, from the generation of ideas to the practical implementation of these ideas into commercial activities that support the country economically and socially. The program will support inventors from different categories and level, including individuals and corporates. Since its first launch, Takamul achieves an annual increasing number of registered patents, and spreads awareness on key aspects of innovation, particularly the legal aspects that protect the inventors’ Intellectual Property. This guide is developed to clarify the role of corporates in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi regarding the Intellectual Property laws.

So the transformation and merger of the “ T “and “ت “ depict the true nature of the process of innovation. The Takamul icon serves as a seal of innovation. One of the Abu Dhabi Government Economic Vision 2030 strategic objectives is to establish a knowledge-based economy in line with the National Innovation Strategy 2021. Since innovation is the key milestone of the knowledge- based economy, the wise leadership of the Government of Abu Dhabi has launched integrated strategic initiatives to motivate the creative thinking, promote innovators, and secure the elements of an innovative community.

In this context, the Department of Economic Development - Abu Dhabi, within its responsibility to lead the economic agenda of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, seeks to achieve a sustainable, balanced, diversified and knowledge-based economy. A focus will be given to stakeholders and to efficiently enable the sustainable economic development of the Emirate. This would enhance competitiveness and ensure the welfare of Abu Dhabi residents by adopting values, including the “team-spirit” represented in strategic partnership with innovators.

In line with guidelines of the wise leadership of the Government of Abu Dhabi concerning the establishment of innovation platforms, “Takamul” program, sponsored Managed by the Department of Economic Development - Abu Dhabi, is one of the key and prominent platforms being a national program seeking to promote innovation by providing support and international expertise to innovators and inventors in UAE, as well as supporting them in achieving economic and social values for their inventions and innovations. Takamul program has fulfilled many achievements reflecting the success of this initiative in enhancing innovation in UAE.
